Harteman Wildfowl continues to share data in ZIMS.

February 7th 2025 | Harteman Wildfowl is pleased to announce the continuation of sharing data in ZIMS (Zoological Informational Management Software), the world’s leading zoological recording keeping system, powered by Species360.

As a conservation breeding facility we focus on education and conservation of endangered bird species. Harteman Wildfowl is instrumental in saving one of the world’s most endangered birds, the white-winged duck, and is active in EAZA’s Ex situ Programs (EEP). We contribute data essential to the effective management of the white-winged duck ex situ population.

On the recommendation of EAZA and the Waterfowl Taxon Advisory Group, Harteman Wildfowl received a grant from Species360 in 2022, to become an institutional member of Species360 and manage its avian collection in ZIMS. Today, three years later, the Species360 board of trustees has approved our membership grant renwal. Our continued use of ZIMS by entering animal data played a significant part in the board’s decision to renew this grant, as an appreciation of our contributions of data to our global conservation community.

Species360’s Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) is the largest source of data on wildlife in human care, recorded and shared by more than 1,300 zoo, aquarium, wildlife refuge, and conservation institutions worldwide.
