Today we revised our taxonomic overview of the Anseriformes of the world on our website. Of all 168 species listed, 156 species are described including lots of photos. This taxonomic overview is based on the Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World (Del Hoyo & Collar, 2014). This Checklist forms the taxonomic basis of BirdLife’s assessments of the status of the world’s birds for the IUCN Red List.

4. New-Zealand blue duck, Hymenolaimus malacorhynchos
