People have shown a keen interest in waterfowl for ages. Waterfowl are hunted and eaten, kept and bred, or simply observed in their natural habitat. And of course, a lot of research is being done on topics such as genetics, taxonomy, physiology, behaviour and conservation. Countless books have been written about all these different facets. And these books, in turn, are interesting to collect and to use for literature studies. On this page, I'd like to give you a glimpse into our collection of waterfowl books.
Below you can find an overview of the books from our personal collection, mostly monographs. A monograph is a comprehensive and detailed scholarly work focusing on a single species or a specific taxonomic group, such as the order of waterfowl (Anseriformes) or the family of ducks, geese and swans (Anatidae). These specialized works offer an in-depth synthesis of available information, including classification, morphology, geographical distribution, evolutionary history, and ecological relationships, serving as definitive, authoritative references for researchers and specialists. Often these books include information on ex-situ management (aviculture), husbandry and breeding.
Our complete collection of books has been added to the online library of Libib. The complete collection also comprises books about other types of birds other than waterfowl (fieldguides, monographs, etc.).
